The Bay of Kaloni sits in a lush valley in the centre of Lesvos. The bay itself and the beach town of Skala Kaloni are the nature capital of this beautiful island. The area is particularly renowned for wild flowers and bird watching in spring and for the excellent seafood, particularly sardines, that are abundant in the beautiful bay.
The beaches are sandy with shallow waters and some of the areas of the bay are good for wind surfing. The port town of Skala Kaloni has a good selection of shops, bars and tavernas offering fine Greek cuisine.
