Set back from the road, Villa Sweetwater offers a peaceful retreat surprisingly convenient for local tavernas as well as for sandy Ampoula Beach. The excellent setting of this villa ensures that guests looking for a wider selection of bars and restaurants are just a 10-15 minute stroll from the more established resort of Tsilivi.
Approaching the villa you find yourself in a tranquil wooded area with cypress, pine and olive trees. Villa Sweetwater takes its name from the old fresh water well that stands in the grounds. A more contemporary water feature is the 7m x 4m swimming pool that is sure to be a hit with the children.
The villa provides up to six people with spacious, air-conditioned accommodation furnished to a high standard. The main living area features a high ceiling with exposed roof timbers and wide patio sliding glass doors that lead out to the pool terrace. A toddler gate is provided for the patio doors. There's plenty of room for you to prepare meals in the well-equipped kitchen, dining can be formal around the six seater table, or al fresco around the pool.
The master bedroom has a comfortable double bed and French windows open onto a raised terrace with views over surrounding olive groves and the sea beyond. The adjacent modern bathroom has a shower, w/c and washbasin. The two twin bedrooms are on the ground floor and share a second bathroom with bath and shower facilities. All the bedrooms and the main living area are air-conditioned.
The Daily Mail stayed in 2007 and their review of Villa Sweetwater included the following extract:
Set in landscaped gardens and centred on a swimming pool, Villa Sweetwater had been built by Dionysis himself and serves as the family's main home outside the tourist season. With three big bedrooms (the master with a wonderful sun terrace) a big, open-plan living area and modern kitchen, it was ideal. The villa was close enough to the nearby resort of Tsilivi for us to take advantage of the shops, but far enough from it that we didn't feel like package holiday robots.
Zante, or Zakynthos, the most southerly of the Ionian Islands, suffers the same pressures as other parts of Greece, struggling to cope with the impact of mass tourism while retaining a sense of its own identity. And while Zante has a couple of raucous, bar-infested resorts, much of the island is unspoiled and life continues in the slow, quirky way that characterises the country.
Situated on the South East coast of Zante, the now established resort of Tsilivi is the closest main resort to Villa Sweetwater and ideal for those seeking plenty of activities.
Sweetwater is located in the less well-known village of Bouka. This small hamlet offers several good tavernas including The Vineyard - one of our favourites! There is a small harbour and a pretty beach just 300m from the villa.
Nearby Tsilivi is located 9km from the airport and 5km from the capital of this family focused Greek island. With a Blue Flag 2km sandy beach, Tsilivi is an excellent location for those seeking a classic beach holiday. There are plenty of activities for active kids such as water sports, go-karting, and horse riding.
The resort hits a nice balance between tranquillity and fun, with a main street lined with friendly tavernas, bars and restaurants, plus ample shops. At night, the pace becomes pleasantly lively with pubs and some discos, as well as quieter tavernas.
Hot summers and warm evenings are assured on this southernmost Ionian Island. Visitors will find established resorts with plenty of amenities and activities to keep the children busy.
We specialise in Zante villas and apartments outside resorts and in quieter areas on the island such as Bouka and Vassilikos. Enjoy the calm turquoise waters that lap golden beaches along the South coast or explore the more rugged Northern corners of the island. Shipwreck Bay (Navagio Beach) and the Blue Caves are certainly worth seeing.

No family holiday to Zakynthos would be complete without a trip to a waterpark. We can confirm that these are great fun for all the family, including slides, pools, rafting or just lazing by the waterside.
Zante is known as the most important nesting ground for the endangered species of loggerhead sea-turtles, the Caretta-Caretta, and a national marine park had been created to protect and preserve these creatures. During the summer months, holidaymakers can visit Kalamaki or Laganags and take a glass-bottomed boat trip to view the turtles in their natural habitat and even swim with them.
