Property details

Enjoying a peaceful location near the hamlet of Fontana, this atmospheric stone cottage provides very spacious accommodation and a secluded hideaway for couples.

Fontana Cottage has been carefully renovated to retain its charm and character by preserving its original features. With antique furnishings, stone walls and exposed ceiling beams, this cottage offers a comfortable, quiet retreat even in the height of summer.

Hidden among mature olive groves, the cottage has an enchanting, private courtyard with fruit trees and jasmine. From here a short run of steps lead down to the large infinity swimming pool which is surrounded by sun terraces with loungers and umbrellas and an Al Fresco dining area.

Fontana Cottage is set out on two levels and is air-conditioned throughout. The upper floor features a lovely high, pitched ceiling and has a full kitchen and dining area. A step up takes you into to the large airy living room with large double aspect windows and views across the Ionian Sea.

Downstairs is the naturally cool bedroom, with a big double bed. Double doors lead out onto the terrace - perfect for a quick dip before breakfast!

This wonderful cottage and its peaceful setting truly capture the magic and charm of Paxos. We highly recommend this cottage for couples.

Fontana Cottage may also suit a small family or three sharing as there is a 3/4 size single in the bedroom. However, please note that the infinity pool has a drop of several metres, so children must be supervised at all times and inflatables must not be used.

The owners of the cottage live in the adjoining house and are on hand to help with any queries that you might have.

Location

Loggos, Paxos

Nowhere is very far on the small island of Paxos, so each of the three harbours (Gaios, Lakka and Loggos) are within a short drive or cycle ride. The nearby hamlet of Fontana offers a bakery, mini-market and small taverna and Loggos provides further options for groceries and eating out.

The smallest of the three main villages on the island, Loggos is an enchanting and graceful old fishing port. This picturesque little resort is home to an impressive array of shops, restaurants and tavernas, giving it a lively yet understated atmosphere.

The beautiful harbour provides a beguiling setting for al fresco dining and it isn’t unusual to sit and watch the locals bring in their catch for the day, gut it on their boats and then take it into the family restaurant, ready to be eaten that night. Little wonder the quayside restaurants at Loggos have a reputation for offering some of the best food on the island.

The swimming here is excellent, with beautiful clear water ideal for snorkelling. During the day, brightly coloured boats will take you to explore the bays and beaches along the coast or transport you across to Anti Paxos with its fantastic sandy beach.

As for the nightlife, the main square with its handful of bars and tavernas offers the perfect spot in which to stretch an enjoyable end to a wonderful day late into the evening.

Why Holiday in Paxos?

Paxos is a tiny gem that lies in the Ionian Sea just an hour's hydrofoil trip from its larger neighbour Corfu. With no direct flights, this island of pretty harbours and undiscovered coves is delightfully laid-back and off-the-beaten-track.

Gaios is the island town, main harbour and centre of island life. Harbour-side tavernas greet arriving visitors but are well worth a return visit during your stay. Loggos is a pretty village harbour just a 10 minute taxi ride from Gaios and home to several of our Paxos villas and apartments. Perhaps the best way to explore this island is by small boat - simply potter along the shoreline to find your own idyllic cove.

For more information on Paxos, its harbours and villages click the tabs above. Our 'Getting there' section includes flight routes to neighbouring Corfu and ferry options.

How To Get There

Transfers to Paxos from Corfu are generally by hydrofoil from the port in Corfu Town with the crossing taking approximately 1 hour. You will be met at Corfu Airport by our SunIsle Representative who will have a taxi waiting to take you to the port for the next available hydrofoil. Sam, our SunIsle Representative on Paxos will meet you at Gaios Port with your hire car or a taxi to take you to your accommodation. Car hire is arranged by Sam and detailed driving directions are provided.

Please note that arrivals for Paxos properties are on Mondays only. We recommend selecting flights that arrive on Corfu no later than 13:00 to leave time for your onward transfer to Paxos.

On Mondays, flights to Corfu leave from the following UK airports: Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, East Midlands, Exeter, Gatwick, Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle, Stansted. Direct flights are also available from Dublin and there are daily flights from Athens Airport.

SunIsle Holidays offer a full travel service including flights, car hire and private taxi transfers as well as apartments, hotels and villas on an accommodation-only basis.

Customer Service

All SunIsle staff where very helpful. A comment about your SunIsle rep, Sam da Silva, on Paxos. I had an accident while I was there and Sam was very helpful.. She immediately came to the house to see what she could do and arranged the sea taxi for us to get to the clinic on Corfu. She telephoned us while there to check we were ok and again the following day to help us with arrangements back to Paxos. She is not only friendly and courteous, but extremely capable and efficient. She takes everything in her stride and is a real credit to you. Our thanks to her for her invaluable assistance at a very difficult time. (July 2010)
Thank you for the great relaxing break! (June 2010)

Everything about the SunIsle service was lovely. The boutique feel was nice too - especially when compared to other companies. Email response was great and the whole operation was very smooth. Lovely reps on both arrival and departure. (September 2009)

Excellent website - very easy to navigate. And the SunIsle staff were all friendly, helpful and well-informed. All-in-all, we had a lovely holiday. Don't change! (July 2009)
We received excellent service from the SunIsle team. Everyone was very helpful. Our rep on Paxos was a cut above the usual rep. She was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. (May 2009)

Other Comments

We felt that the stairs needed care in using them. Adding a short hand rail at the top would be a plus. Not a problem for us, just constructive critisism (note: thank you, we will inspect and upgrade this as suggested) (June 2010)
The food in the local bar (George's) was very good. (September 2009)
There's a great taverna down the end of the lane - not expensive and very friendly. (July 2009)
Do we have any advice for other guests? Cancel the flight home! (May 2009)
