Fontana Cottage has been carefully renovated to retain its charm and character by preserving its original features. With antique furnishings, stone walls and exposed ceiling beams, this cottage offers a comfortable, quiet retreat even in the height of summer.
Hidden among mature olive groves, the cottage has an enchanting, private courtyard with fruit trees and jasmine. From here a short run of steps lead down to the large infinity swimming pool which is surrounded by sun terraces with loungers and umbrellas and an Al Fresco dining area.
Fontana Cottage is set out on two levels and is air-conditioned throughout. The upper floor features a lovely high, pitched ceiling and has a full kitchen and dining area. A step up takes you into to the large airy living room with large double aspect windows and views across the Ionian Sea.
Downstairs is the naturally cool bedroom, with a big double bed. Double doors lead out onto the terrace - perfect for a quick dip before breakfast!
This wonderful cottage and its peaceful setting truly capture the magic and charm of Paxos. We highly recommend this cottage for couples.
Fontana Cottage may also suit a small family or three sharing as there is a 3/4 size single in the bedroom. However, please note that the infinity pool has a drop of several metres, so children must be supervised at all times and inflatables must not be used.
The owners of the cottage live in the adjoining house and are on hand to help with any queries that you might have.
Nowhere is very far on the small island of Paxos, so each of the three harbours (Gaios, Lakka and Loggos) are within a short drive or cycle ride. The nearby hamlet of Fontana offers a bakery, mini-market and small taverna and Loggos provides further options for groceries and eating out.
The smallest of the three main villages on the island, Loggos is an enchanting and graceful old fishing port. This picturesque little resort is home to an impressive array of shops, restaurants and tavernas, giving it a lively yet understated atmosphere.
The beautiful harbour provides a beguiling setting for al fresco dining and it isn’t unusual to sit and watch the locals bring in their catch for the day, gut it on their boats and then take it into the family restaurant, ready to be eaten that night. Little wonder the quayside restaurants at Loggos have a reputation for offering some of the best food on the island.
The swimming here is excellent, with beautiful clear water ideal for snorkelling. During the day, brightly coloured boats will take you to explore the bays and beaches along the coast or transport you across to Anti Paxos with its fantastic sandy beach.
As for the nightlife, the main square with its handful of bars and tavernas offers the perfect spot in which to stretch an enjoyable end to a wonderful day late into the evening.
Paxos is a tiny gem that lies in the Ionian Sea just an hour's hydrofoil trip from its larger neighbour Corfu. With no direct flights, this island of pretty harbours and undiscovered coves is delightfully laid-back and off-the-beaten-track.
Gaios is the island town, main harbour and centre of island life. Harbour-side tavernas greet arriving visitors but are well worth a return visit during your stay. Loggos is a pretty village harbour just a 10 minute taxi ride from Gaios and home to several of our Paxos villas and apartments. Perhaps the best way to explore this island is by small boat - simply potter along the shoreline to find your own idyllic cove.
For more information on Paxos, its harbours and villages click the tabs above. Our 'Getting there' section includes flight routes to neighbouring Corfu and ferry options.
Transfers to Paxos from Corfu are generally by hydrofoil from the port in Corfu Town with the crossing taking approximately 1 hour.
