Villa Ulysses near to the sought after resort of Fiskardo is a delightful addition to our Kefalonia villa portfolio. Offering comfortable accommodation for larger families of up to eight in four bedrooms, Villa Ulysses commands spectacular views towards the islands of Ithaca and Lefkada.
The villa is situated on a beautiful hillside covered by ancient olive groves and stands of cypress trees; it is only a four minute walk from charming Foki beach which has a taverna. The picturesque harbour at Fiskardo with its full range of facilities is a five minute drive.
Villa Ulysses has been newly refurbished for the 2009 season, it was originally split into to two high quality apartments and retains an element of being ‘self-contained’ so is also a great choice for two families holidaying together but wanting some privacy.
The spacious accommodation includes a fully-equipped kitchen, separate dining and lounge areas on the ground floor, as well as a second lounge on the first floor. The ground floor lounge opens onto a large pool terrace, the upstairs lounge has double glass doors opening on to a large terrace which is furnished. Both terraces have wonderful panoramic sea views. There are double and twin bedrooms on the ground floor that share a downstairs bathroom with shower and w.c. On the first floor there are two further double bedrooms and a second bathroom.

Villa Ulysses is situated on a densely wooded hillside comprising ancient olive groves and stands of cypress trees, just a four minute walk along a country lane from charming Foki beach with the harbour at Fiskardo a five minute drive.
Approximately 50km from the island capital of Argostoli, Fiskardo was thankfully cushioned from the 1953 earthquake by the bed of limestone beneath this attractive fishing harbour. Venetian architechure is still prominent and a small museum at the top of the harbour displays pictures charting its history.
The waterfront is home to serveral good tavernas as well as cafe-bars and craft shops. Daily ferries from Fiskardo run to the port of Frikes in Ithaca and to Vassiliki in Lefkas, or hire a boat to explore the coves and lagoons along this pretty coastline.
Kefalonia is the largest of the Ionian Islands, but among the least commercialised. The coastline offers mile after mile of sandy beaches and unspoilt rural areas that are waiting to be explored.
The weather on the island of Kefalonia consists of rainy winters and dry, hot summers. With higher winter rainfall, Kefalonia boasts verdant plains, forests and hillsides dotted with grazing mountain goats.
Great food is certainly a feature of Kefalonia. Feta cheeses from goats and ewes milk, olives and fresh fish from the ports at Sami, Poros, Argostoli and Fiskardo are among the islands' specialities served at excellent tavernas across Kefalonia. Andromeda Cookery School run 1, 3 and 7 day courses, covering many aspects of traditional Greek cookery. A sample class includes preparation of fresh salads, including Greek salad and Tzatziki, appetizers including giant beans, meatballs and stuffed aubergines, along with main courses from beef stifado, moussaka and pastitsio. The price includes all ingredients, a certificate and an apron.
Greek wine has an increasingly good reputation, and Kefalonia famous is for its Robala grape which produces the most famous red wines in Greece. There are several vineyards on the island and all are op[en to the public pretty every day of the week during summer and offers visitors a fascinating glimpse of the the cultural side of Kefalonia. The owners are delighted to show off there wares and you can try (not too much!) before you buy and prices are very competitive.
Myrtos Beach on the west coast of Kefalonia is regularly included in the worlds 10 best beaches. When you arrive there are spectacular views from above the beach, but is equally impressive on the surf line! unbelievably it can often be fairly quite as it is not near to any resorts...
Argostoli is the capital of Kefalonia and is well worth a visit, particularly in the aerly evening. The traditional harbour contrasts with smart shopping, and at night the central square surrounded by swish bars and tavernas is the place to hang out with the Kefalonian Cognescenti!
Situated 5km to the south of Sami is Drogatari Cave sits on top of Melissani Lake. It has a rare beauty with almost translucent ameythest waters that reflect the sunlight that pours through the roof back onto the cave walls. You can take a boat trip around the cavern which although a little bit on the touristy side is well worth the experience...
