Property details

The Keos Hotel is in an absolutely superb location with two beaches, plus the tavernas, bars and shops at Korissia a short stroll away.

For those wanting a perfect beach holiday, you'll be hard pressed to find anywhere better to stay than Keos Hotel & Studios. The sandy, serene beaches of both Gialiskari and Korissia are within a five minute walk, while Korissia is within a ten minute walk.

Other than its fantastic location, the stylish stone Keos Hotel is located on the headland above the beautiful Korissia bay. Built in 2002, it is finished to extremely high standards and the air-conditioned accommodation is all finished with tiled floors and timbered ceilings.

The studios have large furnished private terraces with countryside views, and either a comfortable double bed or two single beds. They are furnished with fitted wardrobes, dressing table and small areas for drinks (with a fridge).

French doors in the rooms open onto a shaded terrace furnished with a table and chairs, and the immaculate bathrooms have a shower stall, hand basin and WC as well as a selection of complimentary toiletries.

For added value, a traditional buffet breakfast is included in the price. This may be enjoyed either on the lovely terraces overlooking the bay or in the privacy of your room. The terrace bar is also open in the evening.

Location

Korissia, Kea

On the western side of the island is Agios Nikolas Bay and deep within it lies the port of Korissia or 'Livadi' - considered to be one of the safest natural harbours in the Mediterranean.

Korissia is the port of Kea and is where ferries from the mainland arrive and leave. So even if you are not staying here, it's the first place you'll encounter when you reach the island and is well worth a stop off. With its blue domed church sitting opposite its old lighthouse, this is a delightful little harbour where a jumble of traditional houses tumble down from the surrounding hillsides to a waterfront lined with cafes, tavernas and shops.

Within easy reach of the capital town of Ioullis and the rest of Kea, Korrisia makes a great base from which to explore the island. However, if you are not inclined to stray too far, this lovely port also has a long sandy (and uncrowded) beach that stretches as far as the headland and the charming chapel of Agios Georgos - the perfect spot to while away your days before wandering back to spend a pleasurable evening over a drink and a meal in the harbour.

How To Get There

There is something reallly special about arriving on a Greek island by boat and this particularly applies to the island of Kea. The ferry only takes an hour and departs from the port of Lavrio on the mainland, which is an easy forty minute drive down the main highway from Athens airport.

There are plenty of direct flights to Athens from the UK and it is approximately a 3 hour journey. You can fly direct from Gatwick, Glasgow, Heathrow, Luton and Manchester. Carriers include:

SunIsle Holidays offer a full travel service including flights, car hire and private taxi transfers as well as apartments, hotels and villas on an accommodation-only basis.

Customer Reviews

Feedback on Keos Studios ...

Best so far (10 years in Greece, 3 years with Sunisle). Very good value for money. Great property, great service, great holiday. Couldn't tear ourselves away, we had a brilliant holiday, so thanks. (September 2007)
What a wonderful position. The Keos hotel was initially a little difficult to find, and like all situation once found never forgotten (May 2007)

Korissia, Kea ...

Kea was just what we wanted, quiet and unspoilt. Some days the main beaches were crowded with 4 or 5 people, but it was always possible to go to another with less! Great island. And if one is going to be marooned anywhere, Kea is the place. (September 2007)
We enjoyed watching the activities of the port and it was a real pleasure to relax on our own balcony enjoying our refreshment along with the night life of the port in view. (May 2007)

Customer Service

Excellent, Susanne was as helpful as she always is. Everyone else was just as good too. (September 2007)
Couldn't have been better (May 2007)

Other Comments

The ferry schedule is subject to strong winds, and allowing a bit of leeway to get back to Athens in good time for your flight is sensible. (September 2007)
Your rep Effie was marvellous and bent over backwards to help us. (May 2007)

The Lion of Kea (Local Culture)

Kea's most popular sight is probably the Lion of kea, also called Lionidas. This is an imposing archaic sculpture of the lion that according to mythology chaesed away the nymphs of the island, causing many ravages. The story tells this lion was sent by the gods, because they were jealous of Kea's beauty.
