Set in extensive private grounds with mature gardens, Villa Aphrodite is a comfortable 3-bedroom country villa with a good swimming pool and is suitable for a group of 6-8 people. It is a short drive along winding lanes to the lovely old village of Prines and is a few minutes drive from the nearest sandy beach.
The living area of the villa is all set on one level and the interiors are simple, fresh and modern in style. There is a fully equipped kitchen with plenty of storage space and work surfaces. The large living room and dining area is comfortably furnished with a settee, easy chairs and a TV and a CD player. French windows lead out from the living area out onto to the pool. There is a another small living room with a sofa bed (suitable for 2 adults if required) an easy chair and a small kitchen.
There are two sizeable double bedrooms furnished with large wardrobes, a dressing table and a bathroom with shower, hand basin and w.c. and a terrace overlooking the pool. The third bedroom is similarly furnished but with a terrace with garden views. All bedrooms are air-conditioned.
The large swimming pool has a children's pool and terraces with sunbeds and parasols; there is also table tennis and volley ball. A beautiful seating area is set to one side of the villa, under the shade of a vast oak tree which is the perfect spot for al fresco dining.
Air conditioning is available at a cost of 10 euros per day. This payment needs to be made to the owner of the villa in resort.
Prines is approximately 10 minutes from Rethymnon town and 5 minutes from the sea. It is a traditional small Cretan village full of picturesque alleys and Venetian buildings. It has two mini markets and a kafenion. In the neighbouring village, only 500 metres from Prines there is a bakery, three supermarkets, an internet cafe and three taverns specialising in traditional Greek dishes at local prices. Other attractions include the Bemboyiannis Mill and a traditional olive press. The Church of Agios Antonios (1833), featuring icons by Ioannis Stathakis is also well worth visiting.

Chania Airport (Crete) - there are flights departing from Birmingham, Gatwick, Manchester and Newcastle on Tuesdays.
Daily flights to Crete are available from Athens Airport.

The palace of Knossos is a must see attraction of Crete, unfortunately in high season it can also be hot and crowded. So be sure to take a bottle of water in with you. The informative signs are good, however an informative guide really can make the resort come alive.
