Lemon Tree Cottage is a wonderful renovation of an existing Cretan stone building. Its origins date back more than 200 years and it now offers comfortable living in truly relaxing surroundings.
Perhaps the most appealing feature of this pretty cottage is the completely enclosed and totally private garden. A private pool bordered by grass and well-established shrubs and flowers creates a delightfully romantic hideaway.
The well thought out interior is open plan and includes a wooden mezzanine level. To the right is the sleeping area with a handcrafted wrought iron king size bed and to the left is the living area and kitchen. The cosy living area has a comfortable sofa and flat screen TV with DVD/CD and for out-of-season visits the cottage is warmed by a small log burner. A small fitted kitchen overlooks the pretty terrace and garden and includes a full oven and hob. There is a utility room and a separate shower room and w.c.
The mezzanine level has a single sofa bed that is idea for a 3rd adult or older child. This is reached by steep wooden stairs that would be unsuitable for young children or anyone with walking difficulties.

This village offers the facilities you might expect to find in a small Cretan town, owing to its status as capital of Apokoronas district of Chania. The palace of Knossos is a must see attraction of Crete, unfortunately in high season it can also be hot and crowded. So be sure to take a bottle of water in with you. The informative signs are good, however an informative guide really can make the resort come alive.
Samaria Gorge is one of the Natioanl Parks of Greece and the only one in Crete. It starts at an altitude of 1227m at Xyloskalo near the village of Omalos (70km from Chania) and ends afer an 18km walk to the beach at the village of Agia Roumeli on the south coast of Crete.
