Entering the enormous living/dining room of Villa Jura, striking features abound. First of course are the tall windows covering nearly every side of the room, with dazzling views in all directions. Next is the sleek starkness of the decor; Modern, yet comfortable furniture is plentiful, a tall fireplace centred between the immense expanse of windows makes an incomparable design.
Glass doors lead to a teak terrace which runs the full length of the house and allows spacious areas for outdoor dining or sunning. Shelves and walls are covered with authentic art objects and oriental antiques. The blue polished concrete floor, combined with the light and space of the room, give a feel of the outdoors.
From the living room area is an open plan kitchen with an Indian antique painted cupboard serving as an island in the large room. The same huge windows allow for plenty of light and a feel as if you are cooking outside. The modern appliances, such as built-in oven, dishwasher, microwave oven and fridge, are stainless steel and of top quality. The mix of modern and antique, blend to contribute to the villa's unique style. From the kitchen is a small alcove with a w/c shower room. The entire main floor of the villa is air-conditioned.
Down the hallway are two bedrooms, both with double beds and one with en-suite w/c shower room. Carried through are the identical vast windows with their unmatched views of clear blue sea and Greek blue sky. There are doors from each bedroom which lead to the front teak terrace with small dividing walls for privacy. Here you can sit for hours enjoying the nature and quiet of this special place.
Situated below the main villa and reached via a stone stairway are 2 bedrooms with separate entrances, both with ceiling fans and en-suite w/c shower room. Between them there is a connecting door which can be locked and used as two private rooms, or left open for families with small ones. It is tastefully decorated in the same modern, yet comfortable style as the main villa. There is a large patio with plenty of space for outdoor living and enjoys the same impressive views as the upper level. It has a small outdoor area with fridge, sink and gas ring for making coffee or tea.
The unusual design of Villa Jura is that it is cut into a hill, with stone walls on each side and a planted area on the roof which helps it to blend well with the nature and curve of the hillside. The teak decking is carried through to the pool area, which is located on an outcropping of the land in the most prime spot on the property overlooking the beach and bay of Steni Vala below and the island of Peristera beyond. The decking is built into the rocks underneath and makes the pool seem to hang in the air, with nothing but bright blue sea below. Next to the kitchen and the living room, there is a BBQ area furnished with outdoor table and chairs to dine as the summer sun sets or under the stars at night. The supreme position of the pool and exquisite views from the house, will ensure you will spend little time away from your villa.
Villa Jura is tailor made for the discerning traveler who wants first class accommodation in a countryside setting. It is great for families and the bottom level studio apartment makes an ideal space for those who want privacy. Villa Jura is also a perfect hide-away for a romantic couple who want the incomparable views and quality that this villa offers.
Please note: due to the steep drops from the terraces, the property is not suitable for children under 12. Cots, high chairs and extra beds can also be arranged on request.
Villa Jura is set alone in the hills above the fishing village of Steni Vala. Its private location ensures peace and serenity nature and olive groves surrounding. A short 5 minute drive leads you though, to the gorgeouslittle port of Steni Vala, a must-see for all visitors to Alonissos. Its protected turquoise waters are a natural harbour and home to many of the local caiques that ply the waters for local fish.
The catch is sold directly to the small tavernas that line the waters' edge and is the best place for seafood on the island. Small water taxis depart from the port in high season, providing service to the many nearby beaches including one of the islands' best, Agios Dimitrios.
For those who like to walk, a foot path leads from the bottom of the villa down to the beach in approximately 6 minutes and a further 4 minutes bring you to Steni Vala. Steni Vala also has a small beach and a couple of mini-markets. The main port town of Patitiri, with all its amenities such as shops, supermarkets and restaurants is a 20 minute drive away.
The fact that there is no airport on Alonissos can only enhance your holiday as it means that none of the big package holiday companies go there.
