Limani Cottage stands approximately 250m above the lovely bay of Steni Vala. This picturesque, tiny harbour has just a handful of delightfully unpretentious tavernas which line the pretty quayside and a small shingle beach.
The front terrace is one of the cottage's best assets and enjoys views over stunning scenery with the shimmering bay below - a great spot for watching the comings and goings of this busy little harbour.
This lovingly restored cottage, decorated in pretty blues and whites offers a spacious sitting room with two divan sofas, terracotta floors and painted blue ceilings. It has a cheerful atmosphere as you enter into the sitting room with the kitchen situated in the far corner. It is equipped with a microwave and 2 ring hob with small oven. The dining area offers a typical Greek table and chairs that are in keeping with the traditional style. A door from the kitchen leads to a back terrace which provides great ventilation for warm summer evenings plus extra light to the area.
The two bedrooms are reached from the main sitting room area, one a double bedded room and one with two single beds. They are both furnished with fitted wardrobes and the double room has views to the sea. There is also a shower room with w.c. situated off of the sitting room.
As this cottage is accessed by a foot path, with a few steps it is not suitable for those with significant walking difficulties.
Please note: a cot and high chair are available on request, at a charge of 5 euros, payable locally.
When booking Limani Cottage you will be given the option to book return transfers between Alonissos and Skiathos Airport. A charge of 40 euros applies for arrivals on Alonissos from 19.00 onwards which is payable locally.
On the east coast of the Island the approach to Steni Vala is spectacular with wide sea vistas and across to Peristera island. This is an enchanting village and sheltered harbour and is pleasantly uncommercialised.
There are four waterside Tavernas specialising in fish dishes, a favourite being bouliabase made from scorpion fish and red mullet. For your provisions there are two mini markets. Views from the tavernas and waterfront are over the multi coloured fishing boats to the island of Peristera. There is a small Monk Seal rescue centre where if you are lucky you will see seals recuperating before being returned to the Marine Park.
The fact that there is no airport on Alonissos can only enhance your holiday as it means that none of the big package holiday companies go there.
To get to Alonissos you fly to Skiathos from either Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Gatwick, Manchester or Newcastle with most flights departing on Fridays. From Skiathos you take the Flying Dolphin which takes 75 minutes to reach Alonissos.
