Gaios: A great stop on a Greek holiday

Holidays to Paxos are not complete without a jaunt around Gaios, the large village and capital of the island.
Ferries and sea-planes dock here, so it is likely you will encounter it should you venture to Paxos.
A peaceful morning could be enjoyed with a trip to one of the many local coffee shops, while a browse around the tourist shops could yield some fabulous presents for those back home. The main square is where you can find many tavernas and restaurants for dinner.
Visit Paxos says that unlike some popular holiday hotspots, the outlets in Gaios stock lovely and high-quality goods, such as pottery and jewellery.
Those lucky enough to be taking a boat trip will find they are in good company - the port is home to lots of these vessels. Sightseeing could include the churches of St Nicholas and St Ioannis.
Also worth checking out is the Church of Agioi Apostoloi.
