When visiting the Greek island of Kefalonia, renting a boat to explore the isolated coves and secret islets is a must, actress Jane Horrocks has claimed.
The Little Voice star wrote in the Daily Mail that it was very possible to get a bay all to oneself, even during August.
Horrocks also enjoyed being able to have a "close ogle at one of the huge luxury motor yachts that moor up along this stretch".
She and her family got a boat in Fiskardo and opened throttle to jet across to Ithaca.
Upon debarking at Polis, they found themselves "grabbed by the adventurous spirit of Odysseus" and walked up to the village of Stavros.
It was based on her experience there that she enthusiastically recommended to all her readers they lunch at the Polyphemus Garden Restaurant, which she insisted had excellent food and friendly service.
This island was recently praised by another Daily Mail writer Victor Sebestyen, who said the views were "breathtaking" and it was host to one of the prettiest harbours he had ever seen - Kioni.
