Get away from it all on a Greek island holiday

There is nothing more romantic than finding a deserted beach on a Greek island holiday , one travel writer has claimed.

Writing for the Guardian, Vesna Maric tells of a recent trip to Greece with her partner, where they enjoyed simply getting away from it all and lying on the beach in the Mediterranean sun.

Staying until the sun set, the perfect setting was characterised by dramatic burgundy cliffs, "the fizzing of crickets and the scent of thyme".

"There was a soft breeze, and the sea was smooth. We jumped in for a swim, watching the bay and the ravine behind it, a magnificent sight of the wild Mediterranean," she said.

"There were no crowds, no noise, no umbrellas; shade was provided by several olive trees."

Holiday makers may also wish to treat their loved ones to a romantic evening at one of the world's top romantic dining experiences, on the Greek Island of Santorini.

Nestled on Santorini's Caldera cliff, the Luxury Travel Magazine claims the restaurant at Andronis Suites offers people a dining experience they are sure to remember. One good tip to avoid the high prices and crowds of peak season is to look for holiday accommodation in Santorini that is slightly outside the main towns, with a short walk to enjoy the ameneties but far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet.
